Job Title: Saturday Matron Hours: 8.30am – 5.30pm Term time plus an additional 6 days during non term time in a girls senior boarding house Salary: Band B Point 17- point 21 (£22,338 - £25,262) pro rata, FTE Actual gross salary based on a full academic year (£3,921 - £4,434) Reports to: Houseparents/Head Boarding and Houses Responsible for: Housekeepers (Jointly) Profile The Saturday Matron is a key member of the house team who supports the houseparent in the pastoral care of pupils and the day to day domestic running of the house. This is a varied job that requires a flexible approach and a good ability to prioritise. The matron is the main presence in the boarding house during the day and is also an important point of liaison between parents and the School. Matrons are expected to be calm, caring, good listeners and communicators. Matrons need to have an understanding of different cultures and practices, be able to use their initiative and have a ‘can do’ attitude. Specific Areas of Responsibility Pastoral Assist the houseparent in creating a friendly and happy atmosphere in house; help pupils settle into school life; help with supervising, monitoring and managing pupils’ daily routines and behaviour; promote pupils’ safety and positive mental and physical health Be a point of contact, facilitating necessary communication between parents, staff and pupils in conjunction with the houseparent Ensure pupils adhere to the School uniform policy including ensuring a pupil’s uniform is of a high standard Be
