Description

A steep and strenuous walk up Brent Knoll pays off with spectacular views
of Somerset countryside and the Bristol Channel.

Oh Take time out Walk Knoll...
How to get there Start at map ref: ST336507 Car: The turning for Brent Knoll (Brent Street) is off the A38 near Sanders Garden Centre. Coming from the north you will need to go to the Edithmead roundabout and turn around. Then turn left into Brent Street. Church Lane is fourth on the right.

Park on Church Lane and make your way up the road towards St Michael’s Church. As you round the corner, turn right on to the public footpath through the kissing gate. A gentle climb at first between woods and the churchyard boundary, pass through the second gate and turn right up the hill and the first steep section. The terrain can be uneven here and tricky if it’s been raining. A dry day is recommended. Take a breather, stop and enjoy the views as you ascend. Through the next gate and head straight on for a slightly gentler section. This time of year sheep are gamboling in neighbouring fields with their lambs. The path curves to the right, then to the left for the second and steepest section of the walk. There are steps near the top and a handy rail to hold on to, should you need it. Once you reach the gate you’re nearly there. Head through and climb the earth cut steps to the top. Enjoy the view, you’ve earned it. With Weston-super-Mare visible six miles to the north and Glastonbury Tor on the horizon to the south east, there’s an impressive vista to take in. Stroll around the top then head back the way you came. Watch your footing on some of the steeper steps near the top and enjoy the view as you descend.
