Dog Friendly Somerset Beaches

Dog friendly accomodation

DOG FRIENDLY
More and more people who own dogs are choosing to take them along, when on holiday in the UK and it makes perfect sense in Somerset, which is prized for its unspoilt countryside and wonderful walks. It also makes financial sense when it can cost little or nothing to add them to the accommodation bill.

Not only are there hills to climb, woods to wander through and moors to meander over but there are also miles of beaches where dogs can race around to their hearts’ content. Plenty of pubs allow dogs into the bar and some even keep a jar of tasty treats for them.

There are Bed and Breakfast hosts we know who make as much fuss of their guests’ four legged friends as they do of the owners and there are campsites that offer dog walking and minding services as well as warm showers and exercise areas. Woof woof.

Somerset and Exmoor must be among the best places in the UK to take your dog with you on holiday and the coast is no exception. Not only are there plenty of beaches where dogs can run free, there are cafes, pubs and attractions where dogs are more than welcome.

There are 24 beaches in all where dogs are allowed, seven where there are restrictions and only three where there is a ban. The great thing about large swathes of the coast here is that it is sandy and there is nothing most dogs love more than the feeling of racing around with a soft surface under their feet and a ball to chase. With a well-marked path hugging most of the coastline, there is an easy route for you and your dog to follow with spectacular views out across the Bristol Channel and sea breezes to refresh you along your way.
