Minehead in Somerset

MINEHEAD IS CONSIDERED THE NORTHERN GATEWAY TO EXMOOR

Minehead in Exmoor, Somerset is the area’s largest town. It’s also the starting point of the South West Coast Path National Trail, the longest countryside walking trail in the country. Perfect for a family seaside holiday, Minehead offers a long, flat, sandy beach, and the promenade with its cafés, bars and shops provides access to the beach as well as spectacular views across to North Hill.

Just a short stroll from the seafront is Blenheim Gardens, Minehead’s largest park. These beautiful gardens, which first opened in 1925, are open all year, with a bandstand and wide variety of free entertainment during the summer months.

Across from the promenade and the gardens is the West Somerset Railway western terminus — originally opened in 1874 as The Minehead Railway. The Avenue is Minehead’s main shopping street, just off the seafront, offering a variety of shops, bars and restaurants.
