Myrtle Farm, BS25 5RA
For more than a hundred years, family-run Thatchers Cider has been quietly perfecting the magic that turns apples into cider.
Here at Myrtle Farm in Sandford, each generation has passed on cider-making secrets, like encouraging bees to pollinate the apple blossom, or looking after the 150 year old oak vats where the cider matures.
We lovingly craft a range of ciders but whichever you choose, they have all been made with the same care and attention, and with the same hands-on experience – we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Nestled at the foot of the Mendip Hills, the Thatchers orchards are our pride and joy. With apples such as Dabinett, Somerset Redstreak and Porters Perfection, as well as some newer varieties such as Angela, Lizzie and Prince William, it’s here that the journey starts, inspired by the heritage and values of our company.
Our flagship brand Thatchers Gold is a full flavoured, medium dry Somerset cider, with a wonderfully rich, golden colour. Thatchers Vintage is well balanced and mature, with a distinctive depth of character, while Thatchers Haze is a premium cloudy cider that has a crisp, sweet finish. We have recently introduced a new cider to our range, the gloriously pink Rosé, bursting with fruity apple flavours. Our other ciders include Thatchers Katy, Old Rascal and Green Goblin, together with our Stan’s Range of traditional ciders, such as Cheddar Valley, Trad. and Big Apple. Available on line and in our Cider Shop, Finally, holding down the fort at home, we have our award-winning Cider Barn range that’s exclusive to Myrtle Farm.that includes very special ciders such as Thatchers 458, Vilberie and Redstreak.
You can buy all our ciders online at www.thatcherscider.co.uk
Or visit our Cider Shop at Myrtle Farm. Here the shelves are packed with our ciders, alongside produce such as local cheeses and chutneys, and gifts including books and clothing. Our draught ciders are available straight from the barrel, so you can try before you buy.
