Experience one of Mendip’s year-round rocksport activities. The limestone formations of Somerset, including cliffs, crags, and quarries, provide exceptional climbing opportunities suitable for both beginners and seasoned climbers. Among these, Mendip Activity Centre runs exhilarating abseiling, rock climbing and caving sessions with fully qualified, experienced instructors.

No previous experience required! All safety equipment is provided and fully qualified instructors will guide you through our rocksport experiences, ensuring your safety and wellbeing.

Abseiling

Abseiling requires no skills, little effort and no prior experience, the real challenge is in the mind. You’re guaranteed a thrilling mix of emotions - and afterwards, an uncontrollable urge to do it all again. A second rope is always used and controlled by your instructor, so you can’t go wrong! Choose from a 20 metre high abseil or conquer Mendip’s extreme abseil at 150ft high.

Rock Climbing

Outdoor climbing session on a real rock face! Learn how to tie into the rope and safely look after your climbing partners through a process called belaying. Highly qualified instructors will be on hand to help. The sense of achievement, exhilaration and confidence you’ll gain from this experience cannot be beaten.

Caving

For those seeking to explore the mysteries down below, join Mendip for an unforgettable Caving experience. Make the most of the Mendip Hills natural beauty and explore the areas 350-million year geological history. There are Caving sessions catering to various skill levels - Sandford Levy, Goatchurch Cavern and Swildon’s Hole.
