All the apartments have been modernised to cater for your requirements including fitted kitchens with microwaves, digital TVs & DVDs and Wi-Fi. The accent is on comfort and relaxation, with the sea front just outside, and the main town just 2 minutes walk away. We have been serving the denomination since 1912, providing individual, family and group accommodation in the UK. Whilst our roots and affiliations lie with the Baptist movement, we are of course open to all denominations and indeed to anyone who is looking for a peaceful time away. The Walter F Fabry Trust
Walter Frank Fabry was a Christian builder who lived in Reading and was a member of the Abbey Baptist Church there. Having no children and his wife having passed on some years earlier, it was his will that upon his death his estate be used to establish a Christian charitable work. Mr Fabry passed away on 15th June 1974 and in 1975, No. 1 The Esplanade was purchased by the trustees of his estate with a view to it being used as holiday flats.
Christine & Stuart Lawrence were running a Christian holiday hotel for the Baptist Holiday Fellowship in No's 3 & 4 The Esplanade (Now 'Foxes') and they took on the management of the holiday apartments too.
When 'The Foxes Academy' began leasing No's 3 & 4 from the BHF to set up their successful training establishment for young people with learning disabilities, Christine & Stuart turned their attention solely to the running of the apartments in No. 1. After 34 years of managing and building the work here, Christine & Stuart retired from the apartments at the end of 2008.
Still governed by the trust set up by Mr Fabry and now operating as the Baptist Holiday Apartments, the work continues as we seek to offer spacious, comfortable and affordable accommodation within the Baptist movement, the Church at large and to all who desire a pleasant break by the sea.
We are only able to operate in this way thanks to the generous wishes of Mr W.F. Fabry and the continued guidance of the trustees of his estate.
