The Wheelhouse forms part of Gawbridge Mill with the river Parrett flowing under the building, dating back to the 18th Century and reputably built with the Ham stones from the derelict Muchelney Abbey. Gawbridge Mill was fully working until the 1960's.Some of the old workings are still in place Water Wheel, gearing, grinding stones, winches & winding wheels.
Now the much loved home of Lynda and Tony Holliss a very warm welcome awaits you at The Wheelhouse B&B with Tony's quirky sense of humour & Lynda's expertise in the kitchen. You can step into "the Good Life", we have our own chickens, pigs, large vegetable plot and stables and produce 50% of our own electricity. We also make all our own bread, cakes, jams & marmalades.
Situated near Martock, The Wheelhouse B&B is a perfect base to fish the river (providing you have a licence), canoe on the Parrett, walk, horse trek, cycle or bird watch in the wonderful Somerset Levels all within 2 miles or just sit on the Sun terrace or garden with a good book.
Excellent local pubs selling real ales, local ciders and wonderful homemade meals.
We welcome well behaved dogs.
