Bath Theatrical Costume Hire, a family business established in 1969 moved from our quirky little shop in Bath to our warehouse in Frome in 2001, housing more than 30,000 costumes. Bath Theatrical Costume Hire, from its small beginnings above a hairdresser on the London Road in Bath, is now based in Frome and houses over 30,000 costumes.
“When we moved from our overcrowded premises on London Road, we thought we would never fill our new home, even with our two friendly ghosts in tow. Now that too, is crammed with fabulous stuff, some of which is already put together as costumes but much of which is waiting for our touch of magic to bring the characters to life”, said Dinah Auton, the second generation to run the business.
Bath Theatrical is like no other business and for those who know it, they are delighted that it is so different. It is perhaps its quirkiness which has helped it ride the economic and professional changes which have flavoured the past 50 years. Through all this Bath Theatrical has managed to add its magic to many a party goer, wedding guest and stage costumes.
