Dog Discoveries – Two or Three night

With so many households now wanting to take their dogs on holiday, we have devised this itinerary in and around the Mendip Hills that can be either two or three nights. All suggestions cater for dogs.

Axbridge is a charming and small market town with a real sense of community. For your first night stay in the Oakhouse Hotel or camping at the nearby Owley Woods.

Nearby Cheddar is famous for its gorge, caves and cheese! There are many shops to explore including the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company. Then make your way to the caves which are dog-friendly for a unique experience.

There are many options for lunch of all types in the village – after which a walk around Cheddar reservoir will be appreciated by all members of your party!

For overnight we suggest Westbury Cross House, a luxury boutique B&B on the way to Wells, with dinner at the nearby Westbury Inn.

For day two we start with a walk around Cheddar Valley Lake which offers a wide range of beautiful views. Lunch and produce shopping follows nearby at New Manor Farm Shop, West Harptree.
For the afternoon, take a trip into the city of Wells where you can appreciate the Bishop’s Palace, Cathedral and city. Overnight you can stay at the historic Crown in the Market Square or The Swan Hotel nearby.

For the optional day three, it’s another chance for walking! Take the East Mendip Way from Wells eastwards to Shepton Mallet, double-back at your choice
