Whether you love pitching up a tent or prefer a night’s stay in comfort – nestled in the hills of Exmoor National Park is Wimbleball Lake, offering an excellent outdoors holiday for glampers and campers alike.

Wimbleball Lake is an AA graded three star campsite, there’s three brand new belle tents, two wooden pods and ample grass pitches. You can hire a fire pit, enjoy a barbeque (raised off the ground) and do a spot of stargazing with a rented telescope. Exmoor National Park is a designated International Dark Sky Reserve - the aptly named Stargazer Belle Tent allows you to spend the night gazing through a clear roof to watch shooting stars, constellations or you might be lucky enough to spot planets far away.

What can you do?

There’s plenty of things to do at Wimbleball – spot birds from the hide, climb trees, build dens or take to the water and experience a canoe or paddle board adventure. If watersports isn’t your thing then try archery or highropes. Bring your bike or enjoy a walk, a network of off-road paths and trails follow the shorelines of the lake, meandering through woodlands and onto open moorland – keep an eye out for Exmoor’s iconic deer and ponies.

There’s ample of open space to let your children play freely and get up close to nature – download SW Lakes free kid’s activity sheets and discover mini-beast below your feet, birds soaring over-head, identify trees and track foot prints.
