Whether you love pitching up a tent or prefer a night’s stay in comfort – nestled in the hills of Exmoor National Park is Wimbleball Lake, offering an excellent outdoors holiday for glampers and campers alike.
Wimbleball Lake is an AA graded three star campsite, with three bell tents, two wooden pods, a new cabin and ample grass pitches. You can hire a fire pit, enjoy a barbeque (raised off the ground) and do a spot of stargazing with a rented telescope. Exmoor National Park is a designated International Dark Sky Reserve - Wimbleball is a designated Dark Sky Discovery Site and is the perfect place to stargaze and engage with nature and the outdoors in its greatest form.
What can you do?
There’s plenty of things to do at Wimbleball – spot birds from the hide, climb trees, build dens or take to the water and experience a canoe or paddle board adventure. If watersports isn’t your thing then try archery or highropes. Bring your bike or enjoy a walk, a network of off-road paths and trails follow the shorelines of the lake, meandering through woodlands and onto open moorland – keep an eye out for Exmoor’s iconic deer and ponies.

From Tiverton take the A396, follow brown signs from the Exeter Inn roundabout to Bampton & then Wimbleball.
From Dunster take the A396 towards Dulverton; follow brown signs at Machine Cross.
From Taunton take the A39 to Washford Cross, and then the B3190 towards Bampton, the turning for Wimbleball is signed from this road.
