Claverham, between Yatton and Cleeve, was originally a farming hamlet within the North Somerset levels. It was probably named after
the clover fields which surround the
village.

Pill means tidal inlet, small harbour or creek. The original name of the village was Crockerne Pill, meaning ‘pottery wharf’ after the large-scale pottery (crockery) industry which thrived here in the middle ages.

Walk along rocky paths and enjoy far-reaching views of the Somerset Levels and coast during this short climb around Bleadon Hill and Canada Coombe. Bleadon Hill is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and part of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
