On 8th November 2023, Mendip Activity Centre was awarded a Green Tourism Bronze Award to recognise their commitment to becoming more sustainable. Mendip were particularly praised for their community engagement and their promotion of wellbeing amongst employees.
“The Green Tourism Award is an extremely positive accreditation to share with our customers,” said Vicky Hitchins at Mendip Activity Centre. “We are delighted to have received this award but we still have plenty of work to do and are working hard to improve our sustainability and decarbonisation.”
Alongside this award, Mendip was recently awarded a UKSPF Net Zero Business Support grant from North Somerset Council. The Net Zero Business Support grant allowed Mendip to
- install 24 solar panels on Mendip Lodge
- install cavity wall insulation
- install loft insulation
- replace inefficient single glazed doors and windows
“It is so pleasing to see Mendip Activity Centre working hard to decarbonise their business and get their journey to net zero underway” said Councillor Annemieke Waite, North Somerset Council’s Executive Member for Climate, Waste and Sustainability. “It is clear that the whole team at Mendip Activity Centre understands we all have a role to play in tackling the climate emergency, and creating a healthier, happier, greener North Somerset.”
