The Visitor Economy Support Programme (VESP) is a programme funded by an allocation of £500,000 from the Somerset Business Rates Retention Pilot programme (BRRP). As we head towards the end of a very difficult year, we just wanted to give you a really positive update on what Visit Somerset has been doing during these dark times to ensure that Somerset can retain and grow its Visitor Economy in a new normal.
Visit Somerset have said, “As we see domestic market prominence increase post pandemic, we are exploring new markets. As the team have been out visiting members in has become really apparent that there are many ghostly tails and siting’s. Many famous TV series exploring the Paranormal have covered some very high-profile attractions in Somerset for their ghostly activity.
North Somerset District Council has commenced working with Visit Somerset, the official Destination Management Organisation. The main promotional tool, www.visitsomerset.co.uk, benefits from over 750,000 unique users and 2.5million page views in a normal trading year.
A new working partnership between Mendip District Council and Visit Somerset plans to firmly place Mendip businesses on the visitor map.
