A biennial national singing competition for young people aged 18 to 26 for 'art song'. The judges place a special importance on the collaborative relationship between the singer and their pianist.

This competition focuses on music composed specifically for the combination of voice and piano. Typical of this music is of course the German lieder but that's only one example of what will be performed. This will be the fith time the competition has been held.

It is open to duos aged 18 to 26, and twelve duos will be invited to Taunton for the semi-finals on Saturday 11th May - six will go through to the final on Sunday 12th May to be heard by our panel of distinguished adjudicators which includes the world-renowed collaborative pianist and Song Prize Patron, Roger Vignoles.

In addition, those duos not selected for the Final will however have the opportunity to work on the Sunday morning in a private masterclass run by the competition's second Patron, the international soprano Elizabeth Watts. All Supporters of the competition are invited to attend this event free of charge.
