Once hidden and inaccessible, the ordinary and extraordinary lives and possessions of four generations of the Gibbs family are ready for discovery.
The garden and estate balance faded beauty and function with an abundance of nature; celebrated in ornate gothic carvings that decorate the house. Flower filled terraces, an empty lake, woodland, champion trees and productive kitchen garden give further opportunities for exploration.
With each season you will experience a new side to Tyntesfield as we open doors and change perspectives on this much loved family estate.
In 2015, we will be opening the house every day, in some way; to showcase the collection and architecture. A year round programme of seasonal activities including free garden tours (check times on arrival), behind the scenes discovery in the house, workshops and lectures, open air theatre and living history. Food and craft market on the first Sunday of each month from April to November. Christmas at Tyntesfield includes concerts, food and shopping and traditional festive fun and cheer. Join us with your four-legged friend in the formal garden during the winter for 'Winter Walkies'.
