Places of Worship

We are an independent, non-denominational trust raising money for the repair and improvement of churches and chapels open for Christian worship in the historic county of Somerset. The Trust, founded in 1996 exists to encourage interest and the involvement of all members of the community in the magnificent heritage of our fine religious buildings.

Discover Somerset's Heritage with Somerset Churches Trust.Once a month from March to October (excluding September when we hold a fundraising event) we arrange a visit to a number of churches. These church tours commonly known as 'Church Crawls" usually start at 2.00 pm and finish around 5.00 pm with tea. They are often lead by experts on church history and architecture such as the authors of the Pevsner The Buildings of England guides. All are welcome. We do not charge but we do ask for donations and also encourage those who attend to become members of the Trust. Individual membership is £20 per annum and family membership (two or more) is £30.00 a year. Full details of our annual programme and membership application is on our website.
