National Trust - Fyne Court

Nr Bridgwater

Tel: 01643 862 452

Fyne Court is a hidden gem in the heart of the Quantock Hills. Lose yourself in this wild garden, reclaimed by nature after once being part of a family estate.
The estate was the home of the Crosse family who lived here until the house was destroyed by fire in 1894. Scientist and poet Andrew Crosse, the ‘Thunder and Lightning Man’ and Fyne Court’s most famous resident became a recluse after his controversial experiments were made public.
You can learn about this, how the fire started and find out where the house used to stand, before exploring the site for yourself on a circular walk. Or delve deeper into Fyne Court’s history on an eye-opener tour this June.
There’s plenty for families to enjoy including building a den, conquering impressive fallen trees and splashing in streams. The Fyne Court play trail has hidden activities along the way and there are plenty of places to picnic.
Treat yourself to a Somerset cream tea or a sweet treat in the courtyard tea-room. Enjoy a light lunch or an ice cream in the shade on the lawn.
The tea room is open 7 days a week from mid-March. The site is open daily from dawn until dusk (opening times may vary due to weather conditions). There is no charge for entry and parking is free for National Trust members. For more information please visit or call 01823 451587.
For those that wish to stay a little longer, Fyne Court cottage sits above the grounds and sleeps 6. Please see orange ‘Check Availability’ tab for more details
