Haymaker Inn

The Haymaker Inn , Wadeford, TA20 3AP, Chard

Description

Carrie and Jason and their boys took over the Haymaker in August 2016 and it is now a free house specialising in homemade “pub” food, and plenty of it.

Haymaker Inn
We serve traditional food and all our desserts are homemade, why not try one of our chef’s cheesecakes while you are with us, a crumble and custard or maybe bread and butter pudding?

While staying at the Haymaker you can enjoy the traditional charm of Somerset life, you may hear the sound of skittle balls rolling down the alley attached to the pub, or enjoy the story of our resident Ghost “Busty Victoria”. Savour a pint of Otter ale with your meal or take a stroll around our countryside.

The pub is set in the tiny village of Wadeford on the edge of the beautiful Blackdown Hills in Somerset. It is close to Chard and the A303 trunk road that runs from Basingstoke in Hampshire to Honiton in Devon. The Blackdown Hills have been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, reaching 1035 above sea level at the highest point.

You can explore this area whilst using the Haymaker Inn as your base. Overlooking the wooded valley of the River Isle, the Inn has undergone extensive refurbishment recently and the five letting bedrooms are now proving very popular with both holiday makers and businessmen looking for somewhere peaceful to stay. There are a huge number of attractions in the area, including Chard museum, Chard reservoir nature reserve, Perry’s traditional cider, Forde Abbey, a former monastic house with one of the top gardens in England. Forde abbey is a privately owned farmer cistern monastery in Dorset, less than 7 miles away from us, the house and gardens are run as a tourist attraction while the 1,600 estate is farmed.
