Linking to the South West Path, the Somerset England Coast Path section opened in March 2016 and takes walkers from Minehead on the edge of Exmoor to Brean Down at the end of one of the longest stretches of sandy beach in Europe.

The route offers glimpses of fascinating geology, views across the Bristol Channel and wonderful wildlife watching opportunities especially around the salt marshes and mudflats. Without the steep climbs of some other coastal stretches, this path is a pleasant meander along the shoreline.

Giving people a legal right to walk around our coast, the England Coast path round the whole of England should be ready after 2020 but in the meantime the majority of the Somerset section is ready for you to enjoy today.
