Explore Britain’s biggest gorge, from the stunning stalactite caverns to the dramatic cliffs rising over 450ft. This world-famous site is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which reveals many hidden secrets including fascinating stories of our prehistoric ancestors.
19 Oct 2020
Further to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the attractions at Cheddar Gorge & Caves are unfortunately remaining closed to guests for the time being.
Additionally some shops within the Cheddar area are now open.
Clearly the closure of our attractions is not what anyone wanted to happen, however we have been reviewing the situation very closely and, despite looking at a variety of options, decided the closure was the right thing to do to protect our visitors and staff as our number one priority must always be your health, safety and wellbeing.
At the moment we don’t know when we will be able to re-open, but we hope to provide further updates soon so do check in with our social media channels.
We very much look forward to welcoming guests back as soon as we can.
In the meantime the Gorge is still available for walking and there are many shops and coffee shops still open on the main Cheddar High Street and up the Cheddar Gorge hill walking towards Cheddar Caves including; the Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company. If you still want to have a cave experience please also visit Wookey Hole Caves a mere 15 minute drive away.
PLEASE DO NOT DUMP YOUR LITTER IN THE GORGE, PLEASE TAKE HOME WITH YOU OR DISPOSE OF RESPONSIBLY.
