Wellington Community Office, 30 Fore Street, Wellington, TA21 8AQ
Wellington gave its name to the famous ‘Iron Duke’, victor at the Battle of Waterloo, and the 175ft monument built on the Blackdowns was erected in his honour.
The town’s growth and prosperity date back to the 18th century when the Fox family started to build their integrated woollen mill.
Today visitors can visit the Wellington Museum to discover more about the historic town. Wellington Park is an important example of late Victorian design and has been awarded Green Heritage status. The town’s Wellesley Cinema also reflects the past, having been designed in the 1930s. Wellington is also well known for its food with various events and initiatives to celebrate the best in local food and drink.
Wellington is an excellent self-contained local shopping centre with a fine choice of independent retailers.
