The County Ground

Description

The Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton is the home of Somerset County Cricket Club who have played there since 1882. It is overlooked by the towers of three churches and is renowned for its quintessentially English character and history.

The pitch is surrounded by a number of stands and pavillions such as the Somerset Stand, the Old Pavillion and the Marcus Trescothick stand. It currently has a capacity of 8,500 but can be increased to 12,500 for internationals.

The County Ground hosted International World Cup games in 1983, 1999, 2017 and 2019. It has also played host to sell-out concerts from artists including Elton John and Rod Stewart.

The Somerset Cricket Museum is located at The County Ground and houses displays that mainly concentrate on the history of Somerset County cricket.

Also on site are the SCCC Shop, the official merchandise store of Somerset County Cricket Club, and The Stragglers Coffee House which offers high quality breakfasts, lunches and drinks.
