Visit Taunton are hosting a photographic competition to find a new front cover photograph for our Visitor Guide for 2020.

Taunton's Visitor Guide is distributed throughout the country with over 20,000 copies.  The winner will also have won a meal for two at The Retreat, part of the Corner House Hotel.

Visit Taunton is excited to have launched a photographic competition in partnership with The Retreat Pub and Dining at the Corner House Hotel. To be in with a chance of winning, please send us your eye-catching images ensuring you are capturing the character of Taunton. Not only will the winner receive a first class dining at the The Retreat, but see their image printed on the front cover of 20,000 visitor guides across the Country.

The fantastic opportunity gives all photographers an opportunity to showcase their skills whether you're experienced, a novice, using a mobile number or one of those big fancy cameras. If you've got an image that you think to prize worthy, please post it in the Visit Taunton Event Group. Capturing the character of Taunton – Photographic Competition

1. This Competition is open to residents of the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland aged 18 years or over, except for employees of Somerset West and Taunton Council, their families or anyone else associated with this competition.

2. All information detailing how to enter this Competition forms part of these terms and conditions. It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the competitor agrees to abide by these rules. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.

3. There are two entry routes to this Competition as follow: by email to Entries must be labelled with the entrant’s name and location of the photograph and image files must be 200 dpi and between 1MB and 3MB. Visit Taunton reserves the right to not use the image, if it does not meet the publishers standards. Entrants should include their own name, address and telephone number; or via Instagram using the hashtag #TauntonVisitorGuide. We regret that we are unable to accept postal entries.

4. All entries must be received by the advertised closing date.

5. All images submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them and must not have won a prize in any other photographic competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit which include an identifiable person or persons have been taken with the permission of the person or persons pictured and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. Entrants must warrant that the photograph they are submitting is their own work and that they own the copyright for it.

6. Copyright in all images submitted for this Competition remains with the respective entrants. However, in consideration of their providing the Competition, each entrant grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to Somerset West and Taunton Council to feature any or all of the submitted images in any of their publications, their websites and/or in any promotional material connected to this competition.

7. Up to five entries per person is permitted. Late, illegible, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties.

8. The winning entry will be that that is judged to be capturing the character of Taunton, visually appealing, original and self-explanatory. The winner will be notified within 21 days of the closing date of the competition.

9. One entrant shall win a meal of two at the Corner House Hotel, in Taunton. The voucher cannot be redeemed against payments of any travel arrangements.

10. The voucher must be redeemed no later than 14 February, 2020. The voucher cannot be exchanged for cash. Lost or stolen vouchers cannot be refunded.

11. The winners may be required to take part in publicity.

12. The winner’s name may be disclosed to anyone.

13. The prize is non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives.

14. Events may occur that render the Competition itself or the awarding of the prizes impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Promoter and accordingly the Promoter may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the Competition and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the Promoter as a result thereof.

15. The Promoter is responsible for the first part of the promotion, which is the publication and adjudication of the competition. All other facilities connected with the provision of the prize are the responsibility of Somerset West and Taunton Council.

16. Closing date deadline. 5pm, 30 November 2019. Entries after this date will not be considered as part of the competition.

17. Acknowledgement that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook.
