Large Group Accommodation - Self Catering House; Sleeps 30
In a land of hawks and horses, close by Bossington village, sits Bossington Hall. High above the Exmoor coast where the water crashes on the cliffs and laps over pebbles. Bossington Hall is the perfect large family or group accommodation, with three games rooms, fifteen bedrooms, six acres of gardens and a warm greeting for all.
Eat and drink in the vast dining room with seating for thirty, or on the flagstone terrace with the sea breeze fluttering through the wisteria that hangs from the walls. In the garden, tennis is top of the agenda on the hardcourt or if you fancy having a game of Squash in what is possibly England’s oldest squash court, then there’s plenty of chance for energetic sport! Indoors for more inclement days, there's a card room, a pool table, table football, a 9 seater cinema with 10’ screen, and a PlayStation4 with 50’’ TV.
At Bossington Hall, groups can marvel amid all the splendour and grandeur. This is a world of high ceilings, majestic fireplaces, and freestanding rolltop baths. Furnishings are classically tasteful.
Explore the surrounding Exmoor countryside, bringing worn-out kids home to Bossington Hall for family get-togethers in luxurious surroundings. Top off the day in local maritime pubs or restaurants serving local oysters, snails, lamb or venison, washed down with Somerset cider and ale.
Things to do locally:
The charming quintessentially English villages of Bossington and Allerford, famed for their tall chimneys and bulging bread ovens that protrude from the old cottages, still in evidence today. Allerford has a working forge, Tudor post office, tea room and and newly opened Cross Lanes Restaurant. Bossington’s famous tea room is a great starting point for a scenic walk to Hurlstone point lookout station or wonderful rambles through a Nature Reserve and stunning Beach and Coastal retreat looking out onto the Bristol Channel.
Bossington and Allerford are part of the Holnicote Estate now owned by the National Trust which dates back over 500 years, sitting within the Parishs of Selworthy, and Porlock, Exmoor. Selworthy is another beautiful hamlet featuring some stunning properties that are well worth a visit, with another tea room and an honesty shop featuring home made chutneys, jams and relishes, all a stroll through the woods from the private access gate at the rear of the Hall.
Nearby is the town of Porlock, an idyllic Exmoor coastal town, filled with varied shops, pubs and restaurants, with the stunning Exmoor countryside as its backdrop. Whether memories, souvenirs, or both, you are going to find plenty of local Exmoor charm when visiting.
Fifteen minutes moving back North along Somerset's coastline, you will find another coastal town and the gateway to Exmoor, Minehead, which you can find out more about here. Minehead is well worth a visit with it’s golden sandy beach, gift shops and pubs and more stunning coastal views.
Exmoor National Park surrounds the villages and Bossington Hall to which there are a huge variety of things to do and see, especially if you are a hiker, rambler or horse rider! Exmoor Countryside is spectacular and hugely diverse, you won't be disappointed.
