The Ammerdown Centre

Imagine the Ammerdown Centre: a Conference and Retreat Centre nestling in woods next to a Stately Home; surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens and parkland. The whole place is steeped in peace and tranquility. No traffic noise, only birdsong! Yet we are only ten miles from Bath and easy to access, with ample free car parking on site.

With its stunning setting, four well-equipped conference rooms, and forty light and airy en-suite bedrooms, there are many reasons to visit Ammerdown!

Our varied programme of courses and retreats really do offer something for everyone.  Come and learn a new skill such as calligraphy or Chinese brush painting, or come and make your own silver jewellery or a stained glass window.  Take some time out for yourself and learn to meditate or relax with one of our guided Quiet Days.  Explore and deepen your faith through one of our spiritual retreats or learn something new about another religion.

Alongside our courses and retreats, we welcome guests for Bed and Breakfast, Half or Full Board.  Treat yourself to our superb home cooked meals prepared by our talented chefs.  Enjoy the serenity of our beautiful garden, walk in the extensive grounds of Ammerdown Park, and experience the peace of our Chapel and Meditation Room.

Ammerdown is also the perfect venue for your residential meetings or day conferences.  Offering an environment conducive to exploration and learning, we boast four well-equipped conference rooms of varying sizes to suit your needs. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.  All guests have access to the stunning parkland of Ammerdown Park and use of a heated outdoor swimming pool during the summer months.

If you can tear yourself away from our beautiful setting, you will find plenty of choices for days out in the surrounding area.

Just ten miles away, lies the historic city of Bath, with its Roman Baths, Spa, stunning Georgian buildings, parks, gardens, museums, theatres and restaurants.

A short drive across the beautiful Mendip Hills will take you to the Bishop’s Palace and the uniquely scissor-vaulted cathedral in the city of Wells. Bradford-on-Avon (sometimes called ‘miniature Bath’) and the Kennet and Avon Canal are within easy reach, as too are a number of National Trust and English Heritage properties, including Stonehenge, Stourhead, Lacock and Avebury.

The Ammerdown Centre was set up in 1973 with the aim of promoting dialogue between the Church and the wider world, and bringing people from different backgrounds and faiths together so that they could learn from each other.  Since then, Ammerdown has developed into a nationally respected centre, with a special focus on interfaith dialogue, peace and reconciliation.

Those of all faiths and none are invited, and our warm welcome is guaranteed.  We have excellent staff, who strive to ensure that every guest has all they need for an enjoyable and memorable stay.
