Niddy Noddy Cottage

21 Sheppards Barton, BA11 1EL, Frome

Description

Thank you for stumbling across little Niddy Noddy Cottage. This is a Grade 2 listed holiday cottage in the heart of Frome, on a pedestrian cobbled street at the top of iconic Catherine Hill.

Niddy Noddy Cottage
We have two bedrooms - one with a king sized bed and another which can be either a king or twin room. There are two bathrooms, a lovely living room with fireplace, a compact kitchen and a courtyard garden. Parking in the conservation areas of town are quite limited, so we provide off street parking 600 ms from the cottage.

Niddy Noddy Cottage is a family affair. Mum, Ann, and daughters Rowena and Eleanor fell in love with the dated cottage in 2014, which was crying out for the layers of artex and chintz to be stripped away to expose its honest beauty. We think we’ve achieved that, but come and see for yourselves and rest your head under the 300-year-old beams.

We have hosted guests from all over the world via Airbnb and Booking.com and we look forward to welcoming you too.

What on earth is a niddy noddy?
A niddy noddy is a woollen spinning tool used for winding yarn into a neat skein for washing or dying. The manufacture of woollen cloth was Frome’s principal industry as far back as the 15th century and by 1700 the town was booming. The Sheppard family owned land in the heart of the town and decided to build new homes for the workers in their woollen mill, and name the street after themselves (as one would do if given half a chance).
