Hide on the Hill

Stoney Stile, Newtown, Panborough, BA5 1PW, Wells

We currently offer our two beautiful bed & breakfast rooms for you to enjoy and the chance to relax away from the bustle - located on the margins of the Avalon marshes near Glastonbury in Somerset.

Hide on the Hill
The Orchard room to the north provides a vista to the Mendip Hills.
It has a luxurious king size Hypnos hideaway bed with luxury cotton sheets. (17m2)

The Garden room faces south with views down to the levels and is decorated to enhance the luminosity of the
Somerset sky into the room. It is a large twin room that can accommodate a child up to 5 years for additional charges. (23m2)

Both rooms are brand new and have large en-suite bathrooms with big showers, towels and soaps.
Each room has free internet access and we have decides not to provide televisions as many guests said they
already had good 4G signals on their network preferring to use their own devices.

Facilities include a tray to make tea and coffee replenished each day, a hairdryer is available,
toiletries in the en-suite to be left for the next guests .

Your Stay

CHECK-IN is from 4pm on the day of arrival. It really helps if you give us an approximate time to make your welcome great. You will be greeted in the conservatory with a welcoming drink and chat about how to chill after your drive. Please note that any balance on the stay must be settled after you have settled in.
BREAKFAST is served between 8am and 9.30am in the dining room, but should you require an early breakfast please let us know. Later breakfasts will be in the form of a convenient  breakfast in a bag (no beans obviously!).
You can relax in the dining room with the fantastic views up until 12am for the long stay guests.

Our continental and full English breakfast are standard and you will be able to upgrade, for an additional charge,
to a selection of special breakfasts like kedgeree, smoked salmon, chilly rice , pancakes and Goan curry on fried
coconut bread, all of which have to be booked in advance.

We strive to be organic as possible with named local produce and our own garden produce.
Our excellent bread is from a local artisan baker, meat from a small Gloucester Old Spot pig farm, and jams
and organic trout from a aquaponics.

Depending upon the weather you can have a continental breakfast tray outside on the terrace or in one of the garden retreats.

CHECK-OUT is by 11am and some guests are requested to settle any additional charges along with the keys after breakfast. We would appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

PARKING is close to the house and free

Fully complaint fire and smoke detectors are present for your additional safety which means
you can only smoke in the designated area outside the building.

ENERGY USE Hide on The Hill uses sustainable energy including a pellet boiler, Powerdiverter, loads of insulation
and solar panels which help to reduce the impact of the travellers carbon footprint. Laundry is washed during
daylight hours to utilise the suns energy and for longer staying guests sheets are changed after 3 days.

Towels are removed and replaced if left in the basket but otherwise left for further use.
Heating is on every morning and evening and is controlled by thermostats.
Additional hypo allergenic bed linen can be provided if requested.

THE GARDEN has many quiet spots for lazing in the sun on deckchairs
or siting by the caravan to read and make yourself a cup of tea.
There is a living willow spiral and firepit with a basket of free wood to use in the early evening.

AMBIENCE at our hilltop hide will become obvious on your first walk around the gardens and
we believe that you'll value the peace and quiet so we decided to not have televisions in the rooms.
We would request that music is moderated by 10pm please .
Many guests use their tablets for streaming which is fine but please turn down the volume thereafter.

PETS are, at present, not able to be part of your stay but those with registered guide dogs
will be considered if we know from you how to best manage the arrangement.

WALKERS AND CYCLISTS are most welcome with a range of facilities to help including a drying room, outside boot area
to change walking gear, a small jet wash for muddy bikes, a bike wall to repair bikes and a lockup for your bike
