National Trust Press Release
Issued on 11 September 2019

Works, which will also help those with pushchairs, included creating a bridge structure to go over a step which sits behind the boathouse.
An all-terrain mobility scooter, known as a Tramper, is to be introduced for hire from the end of September through a partnership with two initiatives of disability charity, Living Options Devon. Their Heritage Ability project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, has provided the Tramper while it will operate under the Countryside Mobility hire scheme whose aim is to make visiting the countryside more accessible.
Neil Warren, Countryside Mobility Project Manager said: “Each year more people hire Trampers to gain access to the South West’s beauty spots and their number one request is for more locations to explore. Fyne Court is such a tranquil and beautiful place to visit and so we’re delighted to work in partnership with the National Trust to add it to our growing network of hire locations”.
Lis Ford, Senior Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust said: ‘We’re pleased to be able to support an offer that is now accessible to many more visitors. Our aim is to ensure we can welcome everyone to enjoy the property which is full of history and wildlife.’
Tramper hire is free of charge, while the membership of Countryside Mobility (either £2.50 for 2 weeks or £10 for a year) gives access to their Trampers at nearly 50 locations around the South West.
Fyne Court, which was home to the Crosse family for over 300 years, is nestled is the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is approximately 6 miles north of Taunton, Somerset.
Advance booking of the Tramper is strongly recommended by calling Fyne Court on 01823 451587.

About the National Trust
About the National Trust
The National Trust is a conservation charity founded in 1895 by three people who saw the importance of our nation’s heritage and open spaces, and wanted to preserve them for everyone to enjoy.  More than 120 years later, these values are still at the heart of everything the charity does. Entirely independent of Government, the National Trust looks after more than 250,000 hectares of countryside, 778 miles of coastline and hundreds of special places across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Almost 27 million people visit every year, and together with more than 5.6 million members and over 65,000 volunteers, they help to support the charity in its work to care for special places for ever, for everyone.
