More than 150 skating Santas have taken to the ice at Clarks Village aiming to make the history books.
To launch its festive ice rink this Christmas, the Somerset shopping outlet held the ‘World’s Biggest Santa Skate’ for the most amount of ice-skating Santas.
Joined by the real Father Christmas all the way from the North Pole, the ice rink welcomed a total of 155 guests dressed as Santa. Head elves at Clarks Village are declaring this is a new record and are celebrating what they’re calling the “jolliest ice skate of all time”.
Clarks Village gifted free tickets to guests for the World’s Biggest Santa Skate event to celebrate the ice rink launch and the start of the festive season. The real Santa greeted guests and joined in the festivities with everyone awarded a special participation rosette with on-the-spot certificates for the best fancy dress efforts.
The ice rink will now open daily, excluding Christmas Day, until January 5th with special sessions including 2-4-1 discounts, quiet sessions, parent and toddler skates and disco nights.
Featuring real ice, the 500 square-metre undercover ice rink is wheelchair and buggy friendly and is located on the lawn of the adjacent Alfred Gillett Trust, with a dedicated entrance within Clarks Village’s restaurant terrace.
Chris Davis, Centre Director of Clarks Village, commented: “We’re thrilled to see our festive ice rink return to Clarks Village and to watch so many Santas have fun on the ice was spectacular.
“It was our pleasure to gift tickets to guests for this special occasion as we broke the record for the most ice-skating Santas – it was an incredible way to officially launch the return of our ice rink and the countdown to Christmas.”
Amanda White and her eight-year-old daughter Lily-May were part of the World’s Biggest Santa Skate at Clarks Village. She commented:
“We really enjoyed it. We love coming to Clarks Village for the ice skating and we came last year too. Meeting Father Christmas was amazing. It was a lovely evening, the atmosphere was fantastic and everyone was having a great time getting into the Christmas spirit. We will definitely be booking to come back.”
Tayo Evans visited with her husband and two children. She said: “It was wonderful to see so many people all enjoying themselves and helping each other. It was well organised and everyone made a great Santa effort. We had a great time.”
