Cateys 2020: Hotel of the Year – Independent: The Queensberry hotel

25 Nov 2020

The Queensberry hotel in Bath is the epitome of a well-run, independent hotel where the owners
are at the heart of the business.

For the past 17 years, Laurence and Helen Beere have worked to put the four-AA-star, 29-bedroom property at the forefront of the boutique hotel market in Bath. During that time, they battled the 2008/2009 recession, before embarking on a £1.3m investment programme in 2017.  More HERE

LAURENCE BEERE PROPRIETOR has said: " As proud as Helen and I are, I also believe this is great recognition for our City. The Cateys are very much the pinnacle of awards in the hospitality industry. Alongside the Michelin Star for The Olive Tree, I believe it helps shine a light on the incredible work that the independents of Bath, not just in hospitality offer to our beautiful City"!

John Turner CEO Visit Somerset has said; "The team are thrilled that one of our own has received such a prestigious award underpinning Bath and greater Somerset as the lead South West destination of choice. I am incredibly proud of Laurence and his team's efforts in gaining the award especially against one of most difficult trading periods in living memory. I look forward to congratulating the team in person as soon as possible! In the meantime this will really help strengthen our alliance with Bath and Stay in Bath."
