Visit Wells, Wells Heritage Partners and Wells City Council

23 Mar 2020

Following the latest government recommendations, we have taken the decision to reduce the Tourist Information Hub located in the Wells Town Hall to a skeleton staff. If it proves necessary to restrict access to the Town Hall then our team will work from home but will remain available to answer questions and enquiries by email and through our social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Wells is still open to visitors. The exquisite Wells Cathedral and the beautiful gardens at the Bishop’s Palace will remain open for as long as this is possible and offer places of reflection, prayer and quiet at this difficult time. We ask visitors to respect the social distancing guidance and to maintain a distance of 2m from others.

Other local attractions may close where this is necessary under government guidance. We will endeavour to keep our websites current on the status of each location. Many venues will also need to postpone many of their public events during this period – again we will attempt to keep our listings up-to-date.

For those who travel to Wells, we hope you can understand why we and our partners have taken these steps. For those who decide not to travel at this time, we look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful city soon, and we will let you know about each attraction’s plans to reinstate full operation or reopen as soon as we are able."
