2025 is a big year for Somerset County Cricket Club!

30 Jan 2025

by Richard Walsh

There is just so much cricket to look forward to this coming summer; both men’s and women’s sides compete in three domestic competitions making a total of six trophies up for grabs. More Somerset home matches will be hosted at Taunton than ever before, so there is no better time than 2025 to either renew or take out a membership.

If you’d like to support the Somerset Women in their first professional year, a special dedicated Membership has been created with an introductory price!

This package features 11 standalone matches and extra benefits, including International Women’s Cricket, for an incredible price of JUST £25 for existing Members or JUST £45 for adults!

On a warm sunny day there is no better place to be than the Cooper Associates County Ground watching Somerset’s men or women’s teams playing cricket.

Last summer Somerset’s men’s team competed strongly in each of the domestic competitions, reaching the finals in both the 20 and 50 over competitions, while in the County Championship they were in contention almost until the end of the season.

Eventually, of course, Somerset were left empty handed, but that experience will have galvanised the players who were involved in the disappointments and make them even more determined to be successful in 2025.

Somerset men’s team begin their quest to win the County Championship title for the first time ever on 4th April with a home match against Worcestershire and what better year would there be to achieve this feat than in the Club’s sesquicentennial (150th year).

Last year Somerset men lost out in the final of the Vitality Blast (T20) competition to local rivals Gloucestershire so in 2025 captain Lewis Gregory and his team will be hoping to go one better and emulate their achievement of 2023 when they lifted the trophy.

Somerset begin their Vitality Blast campaign with a home fixture against Surrey on Friday 30th May and the competition continues through until 18th July, with the latter stages taking place in September.

In high summer Somerset compete in the 50 Over One Day Cup during which three of the unmissable events of 2025 are taking place

Beer and Cider Festival

There will be a huge variety of activities on offer as we mark an incredible 150 years of Somerset County Cricket Club. Join us at the stunning Cooper Associates County Ground during the summer to celebrate a beacon of the local community on this landmark date.
