Volunteer at Mompesson House in 2020

28 Jan 2020

The National Trust team at Mompesson House are getting ready for the 2020 season and are looking for volunteer room guides to help give a warm welcome to visitors and share the stories of the eighteenth-century townhouse in Salisbury’s Cathedral Close.

Jinny started as a volunteer room guide at Mompesson at the beginning of 2019. She’d been a life member of the National Trust for more than 40 years and wanted to ‘give something back’. She also had some spare time and was interested in expanding ‘her circle of people from all walks of life’.

She describes her first year volunteering at Mompesson as a ‘fascinating experience’. She has enjoyed learning about the history of Mompesson and different subjects she previously knew nothing about. She says she has met some ‘very nice people’ and believes volunteering ‘opens up your world’. She feels proud to be part of the Mompesson team and part of the National Trust.

Emma James, Visitor Experience Officer at Mompesson said: ‘We’re keen to welcome new faces of all ages to our friendly and enthusiastic team at Mompesson. The house is open to visitors daily from Saturday 7 March to Sunday 1 November. If you have time to spare, whether a few hours or days a month, we’d love to hear from you. Please phone the house on 01722 335659 or email mompessonhouse@nationaltrust.org.uk
