American Museum & Gardens - Night & Day: a 1930s Christmas with the stars

02 Dec 2020

During the day experience the glitz and glamour on a journey through sumptuous city tableaus featuring a range of glittering eveningwear. Nightclub, cinema and bustling street scenes are filled with floor-length gowns, created in satins, velvets and crepes and adorned with diamante.

At night you’ll be able to experience the museum’s gardens as you never have done before. Wrap up warm and enjoy the glamorous glow, twinkle and sparkle of a wander on the Winding Way in a new outdoor lighting trail. Designed by award winning lighting engineers the lighting trail provides gentle illumination of the museum’s gardens and it’s home Claverton Manor.

Inspired by the museum’s current exhibition Night & Day: 1930s Fashion and Photographs (organised by the Fashion and Textile Museum, London) which has been extended until the 20th December, the lighting trail is the perfect place to join, social distanced, family and friends for the magic of Christmas. ‘It’s been a tough year for everyone in Bath but we we’re aiming to end the year with family friendly experience.

Our Gardens have been a lifeline for many in the summer providing a safe space for people to explore and reconnect with nature. We’re inviting visitors to come and experience the gardens in the day and with our 1930s inspired light trail.’ said Museum Director Richard Wendorf.
American Museum & Gardens opens for its Christmas season on the 3 rd December until the 20th December (Tuesday to Sunday) from 11am to 4pm. The Museum’s garden light trail ‘Glamorous Glow’ is open Friday and Saturday evenings 5 to 8pm. Normal admission applies. Please note Claverton Manor – the main collection remains closed until 2021.
