Siren Song
Siren Song is a concert featuring the premiere of a new work for flute, piano, sound enhancement and visual immersion composed for Cherubim Young Musician Lily Owens by Proms composer James B Wilson with the collaboration of pianist Emma Walker, sound designer Finn Murphy & graphic animator Sam Steer. Composer Wilson says: “Siren Song is a drama without dialogue. The audience is present in an wordless environment whose acoustics reflect the spaces we inhabit – imaginary streets, half-familiar rooms. It’s an acoustic fantasy: where the flautist is a dreamer moving effortlessly through all sorts of musical environments where amazing richness is contrasted with desolation.” Join us for the premiere performances of this Cherubim commission together with other exciting contemporary acoustic music by minimalists Arvo Pärt, Steve Reich, John Adams and atmospheric electronic music by Denis Smalley, MM Steer & Roberto Fabbriciani.
