Shepton is also a town with an eye on the here and now; it’s quirky, bold, with a warm and hearty welcome to all who come to live and visit here.
The
Snowdrop Festival and
Window Wanderland are just two of the festivals that are giving Shepton a growing reputation as a Festival Town, not to mention the iconic
Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm, Pilton, on the outskirts of the town.
The
Art Bank in the centre of the town is a creative hub, working with writers, poets, sculptors, artists, crafters, film makers and theatre companies to encourage a rich and diverse calendar of events throughout the year.
Each autumn Somerset towns play host to the largest illuminated
Carnival in Europe, and Shepton Mallet is a great place to see it. Processions of imaginatively decorated illuminated carts take to the streets and light the skies and the town with colour and the happy faces of excited children.
