Somerset Festivals!

Somerset is a sociable county, needing no excuse to celebrate an event. From the autumn tradition of carnival displays to commemorate Bonfire Night, bumper apple harvests, stacks of sheep hurdles or flying kites, there are many festivals which take place throughout the year. Somerset’s festivals include the world famous Glastonbury Festival, Frome Art Festival and Queen Caturn’s Night in Watchet which celebrates a visit from Queen Catherine of Braganza hundreds of years ago. Somerset’s varied selection of festivals will give you the opportunity to try more unusual activities such as are wassailing, squibbing and dancing hobby horses.

As you might expect from a county that prides itself on it’s fantastic produce, there are many festivals linked to food, drink and farming including one of the best harvest time festivals in the country, held at Burnham on Sea. There are also many literary and arts festivals in line with Somerset’s significant cultural credentials with new galleries and a flourishing artists’ community finding their home here.
