Stowey is a small village within the Chew Valley in Somerset, England. It lies south of Chew Valley Lake and north of the Mendip Hills, approximately 10 miles south of Bristol on the A368 road Weston-Super-Mare to Bath. Stowey and its neighbouring and larger village, Bishop Sutton, form the civil parish of Stowey Sutton. It is an area rich with flora and fauna whilst developing with the needs of its community.

The aim of Stowey Sutton Parish Council is to provide facilities that are required by its local community and to help people make the most of where they live by connecting with their neighbours. The community has been lacking in open social areas recently and the Councils desire is to create those facilities, build on interest, maintain desire, and deliver suitable facilities to be used by all without prejudice.

Stowey Sutton Parish Council welcomes the views of all parishioners and residents in its decision-making process.  Any interested parishioner is encouraged to attend our regular monthly meeting to raise any issue they feel relevant or participate in any volunteer groups or projects.

Stowey Sutton Parish Council has a number of projects underway to achieve these aspirations.  Currently being installed is a new play area for children on Bishop Sutton Recreation Ground, a zipwire aimed at its teenage population, and adult gym equipment for those seeking the opportunity to get fit in their own time.  A pathway will be created around the perimeter of the recreation ground for walkers, runners, scooters, pushchairs or cycling. And then we have the Community Library, we are aiming for a late summer launch.

2018 is proving to be an extremely busy year for Stowey Sutton Parish Council.  Everyone is enjoying the project work and are keen to involve as many volunteers as possible and maybe even encourage another possible councillor or two to join us on this journey.
