Luxury self-catering cottages in the heart of Exmoor
Each of our four period cottages has its own unique character, complete with original features. Comfortable and welcoming, they are designed with high quality furnishings and fabrics to make them a real home-from-home in the heart of Exmoor. Stay for a short break of three or four nights or longer – there’s so much to do in the area! All our properties are suitable for families with children, couples and larger adult-only groups – with or without pets.
We have three cottages in the quietest and prettiest part of Minehead – known as ‘old town’. These properties can be booked together to accommodate larger parties:
Pilgrim Corner: Period charm meets luxurious living
Five Star Rated with Visit England
Dating back to Tudor times, this large cottage is all about luxury,
with a lovely country-style cream kitchen, dining room and a sumptuous sitting room with wood-burning stove. There are four beautifully decorated en-suite bedrooms that sleep eight, as well as a large and much-admired cottage-style garden with hot tub.
The Old Sweet Shop: A chocolate box cottage
Five Star Gold Rated with Visit England
Sleeping eight in four tastefully decorated rooms, each with its own bathroom, The Old Sweet Shop has recently been sympathetically restored to highlight its sweeping staircase, ancient beams and large fireplace. The 16th Century thatched cottage boasts a comfortable sitting room with wood-burning stove, a large kitchen/diner, pretty garden with patios and large hot tub, and on-site parking for two cars.
As with all our properties, you’ll be staying in a truly historical house - some of our neighbours remember buying strawberry sherbets, gobstoppers and ice creams here!
Stone Barn: Stylish open-plan living
Five Star Gold Rated with Visit England
An architect-designed modern barn conversion, Stone Barn sleeps six in three bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. On the top floor there’s an open-plan state-of-the-art kitchen, a dining area and comfortable sitting area. Downstairs the ‘Pineapple’ en-suite bedroom can be configured as a super king or twin, while ‘Disney’ is an en-suite king with bath. The ‘Snug’ bedroom on the first floor features a double bed suitable for two adults or two children.
There’s a pretty enclosed garden with seating area or turn left to soak in our hot tub while enjoying views of St Michael’s Church. On-site parking for one car.
And in the beautiful medieval village of Dunster:
The Oval: Step back into the Middle Ages
Four Star Gold Rated with Visit England
Our oldest cottage The Oval features original cruck beams, oak screening, a stunning four-poster bed, wood-burning stove and stone floors. It has caught the attention of Channel 4’s Time Team, who dendro-dated the impressive cruck beams in the main bedroom to the winter of 1366. There’s a large comfortable sitting room with wood-burning stove, country-style kitchen, dining room with doors out to a pretty courtyard, and a Snug for leisure time. Upstairs you’ll find three bedrooms, a large double four-poster bed with en-suite shower, a pretty double en-suite with bath, and a twin. Climb the steps to the stylish sun deck for wonderful views of the village and listen to the sound of the church bells. Two reserved parking spaces near the cottage.
