A fundraising opportunity for a new pool at the Mendip School, which would be for students with special needs as well as the community. It is a £1.1 million appeal and we are £750,000 into the fundraising and hope to start the build in Autumn.

The Mendip School is a special school with 144 students on the Bath and West Showground. Students have a massive range of special needs, disabilities and speech and communication needs. Students travel from huge distances to have the support provided by the school. When the school was built in 2015, there was no funding in place to include a swimming pool. We now have in place planning permission and £750,000 of funding towards the £1.1 million to construct a pool. For pupils attending our school, swimming is an essential skill for water safety, increasing confidence and familiarity with community facilities. It helps young people be safe around water, encourages them to access a wider range of activities and venues throughout their lives, along with providing them with lifelong health, wellbeing and personal safety skills.

Hinkley staff and contractors can get involved in the fundraising for this local resource - staff have the opportunity to take part and fundraise in activities such as a Skydive, a half marathon or cycle events locally.
