Glastonbury Abbey…..that Special place !
Normally quiet and tranquil ; such an atmosphere that, amongst the magnificent ruins, you can almost feel the prayerfulness of the people that have worshipped here for 2000 years.
Groups ( min.10 or more persons) are very welcome at any time of year and discounts apply.
Of course, not just ruins, of what was the grandest Abbey in England, but the setting is against 36 acres of beautiful Somerset. In Spring see thousands of Snowdrops followed later by Daffodils; then bluebells, masses of Wildflowers and wonderful autumn tree colour.
Don’t forget the legends that abound too ! Joseph of Arimathea, Jesus, St.Patrick and St. David ; as well as King Arthur being buried here . From March to October we have costumed guides here daily, playing characters from the Abbeys’ past, performances are usually in the Abbots Kitchen, set out as a Tudor kitchen would have really looked.
Tell us when you are coming and performances, for groups, can be timed to suit your visit !
See our website too for events on during the year – www.glastonburyabbey.com
From late May until mid September we have an Outdoor Summer Cafe, selling, teas, coffees, cold drinks, home made cakes, pasties, sandwiches, icecreams etc. Prior arrangements can be made to cater for groups.
A private car/coach park adjoins our entrance in Magdalene Street, so you don’t have too far to walk.
We look forward to seeing you.
