Come and visit World Horse Welfare's Glenda Spooner Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre. Located on the outskirts of the ancient, Royal town of Wessex, Somerton, we are situated in the heart of the rural landscape of South Somerset. We care for and rehabilitate around 65 horses and ponies at any one time with the aim to find them loving new homes, and take approximately 100 horses through our doors each year. The farm has had a recent re-development and our new facilities will help us rescue and rehabilitate even more horses.
Meet the horses
Come and see some of the rescued horses and ponies we have in our care and learn more about the rehabilitation process so they can go on to find loving homes. You can also take a walk around one of our great farm walks, which will take you past horses relaxing in their paddocks and the breath-taking great views over the Somerset Levels. The farm sits in 220 acres of unspoilt countryside and there are many opportunities to spot the wildlife around our lake. You might even find a horse or pony that you would like to rehome.
Learn all about the work of World Horse Welfare, from how we rehabilitate and rehome our horses to our international work and campaigns. Discover how you can help us with fundraising, volunteering or how you can get involved with the charity's work. Watch our notice boards and Facebook Page for news about what’s on at Glenda Spooner Farm.
Eat at the Farm
Relax in our Bistro overlooking our brand new indoor arena and enjoy some great British food, freshly prepared by our talented cook who uses only the finest local produce. You may even be lucky enough to see some of our horses undergoing their rehabilitation work in our indoor arena. Free public Wifi is available.
Kids Play Paddock
Take a well-earned rest while your children have fun in our safe play area.
Dogs Welcome too
We cater for our canine friends too, so don’t leave them at home. Take them on the farm walks with you (we just ask you to keep them on leads and to please pick up after your dogs). You can also enjoy a coffee break or lunch in our dog friendly garden. Please note, dogs are not permitted in the Bistro.
Why not hold your next event, celebration or meeting here at Glenda Spooner Farm? Our indoor arena is available to hire and we also have a new Conference Suite, which can seat up to 100 delegates in a variety of layouts, together with the latest IT and audio equipment.
