We produce award winning ciders here at North Down Farm, crafted from apples produced in some of Somerset’s finest orchards. We are proud to carry out every step in making cider from pruning through pressing and fermentation to bottling and delivering the final product. Come and join us to experience the true taste of Somerset.

Ham Hill Cider
At Ham Hill Cider, our aim is to create ciders that are rich in flavour and refreshingly appley. We believe we’ve cracked it. We press only the finest apples, that are grown within 5 miles of Ham Hill, and fully ripened by the late summer sun. We take the juice and carefully craft it into a range of premium ciders, to satisfy the tastes of those in search of something special. It is characteristically Somerset in style, with rich flavours, soft tannins and a hint of apple sharpness, which makes for an easy drinking refreshing cider that appeals to the contemporary taste, while remaining true to our heritage.
Tree, we have the privilege of tending some of the finest orchards in Somerset. We prune and plant trees during the winter months, wait for mother nature to do her work over spring and summer and then pick the apples in the autumn.

Juice, we use over 25 apple varieties, including, Dabinett, Sweet Coppin, Chisel Jersey, Yarlington Mill and Kingston Black, pressing each variety at their peak of ripeness for maximum flavour.

Magic, we allow only the naturally occurring wild yeast to work on our ciders, which means relying on the magic of nature to do its work. With fermentation underway we wait for the first cuckoo of spring to announce the cider has matured is ready for drinking! Cider, the best part of the process is that long anticipated first taste of the new cider and the realisation that the all the hard work was worth it.

Ciderworks, to enjoy our ciders at their best join us on a Friday night at the Ciderworks taproom. Our full range of ciders are on tap, and you can take a look around next door where we make them, we provide seasonal home cooked food every week with regular specials of whatever the farm can provide. We also have regular live music nights. Follow us on social media for an up to date programme of events.

We are four sons of Somerset with a passion for the press and we welcome you to Ham Hill Cider.
