The Playhouse Theatre is available for hire for both community and professional shows and as a venue for conferences, meetings and corporate events. In addition to the main auditorium the theatres facilities include a licensed bar, meeting and rehearsal spaces and full disabled access.

Located in the centre of Weston-Super-Mare the Playhouse is a friendly and welcoming 664-seat theatre which offers a lively and diverse programme of events to meet the entertainment, creative and educational requirements of its local and surrounding community.  


The Playhouse’s high quality programme of professional and community events includes around 300 performances per year including music, drama, comedy, dance, musicals, film, children’s shows, pantomime and more recently West End Productions.

Our dedicated and professional staff are used to working with all visiting companies and hirers to ensure a successful event while our welcoming and caring front of house team ensure patrons an enjoyable entertainment experience.  

The Playhouse Theatre is managed by Parkwood Theatres working in partnership with North Somerset Council.

Personal Bookings: Opening hours Monday - Saturday 10am - 5pm (or closing 15mins after Curtain Up if on a show day) Sundays two hours prior to performance.

Online Bookings

The Playhouse’s online booking service offers a secure way of booking tickets with the option of choosing your own seats.

We would ask wheelchair users, hard of hearing or visually impaired patrons, those with special access or seating requirements, and those using The Playhouse vouchers to call the Box Office on 01934 645544.

If you are booking online with us for the first time, we advise you to create an account before looking for tickets as they will only be held for a certain amount of time and may be released before you finish creating your account.

Refunds, Exchanges & Resale

Please check your tickets carefully when booking as we are unable to offer refunds on tickets sold, however, if a performance is sold out the Box Office are happy to try and resell tickets that cannot be used. Please note that all ticket resales and transfers are subject to an administration charge. 

Discounts

  • Details of discounts are given with each performance. Only one discount may be claimed for each ticket. Please note not all discounts apply to all productions. Not all discounts are available online. 
  •  Children - under 16 years old.
  •  Babes in Arms – under 3 years old.
  •  Over 60s - people of 60 years and over.
  •  Students - people over 16yrs old and in full time education.
  •  Friends of The Playhouse – Friends of The Playhouse should quote their membership number when booking by phone or post.
  •  Group/School - groups of 10 or more. One teacher free for every 10 students in schools booking, unless stated otherwise.
  •  Family of four - two adults and two children.

Gift Vouchers

The Playhouse Theatre gift vouchers are available from the Box Office to any value and are valid for one year from date of issue. Please note, we do not accept Theatre Tokens. 

Other Information

In the interests of all our patrons, please make sure mobile phones are switched off during performances. Photography, video and recording of performances is strictly prohibited unless prior permission has been obtained.

Pushchairs and baby carriers  are not allowed in the Theatre, but we may be able to keep them for you, subject to space available.

Road Directions

The Playhouse Theatre is located on The High Street in the centre of Weston-super-Mare, 5 minutes walk from the north end of the sea front.

By Train

Weston-super-Mare train station is situated a 15 minute walk away from the theatre. For further information about rail services, visit www.nationalrail.co.uk. The station has a taxi rank immediately outside.

 

By Car

Weston-super-Mare is minutes away from the M5 motorway. The Playhouse is well signposted on all major routes into the town. There is limited road parking available around the venue which is free after 6pm. The Melrose car park is the largest car park in the area and is approximately a 7 minute walk. The closest car park to the theatre is Grove Park Car Park located at the end of the road.

From the M5 Junction 21
Follow the A370 dual carriageway for about 4 miles into the centre of Weston-super-Mare

On reaching the sea front follow the one-way system and proceed north passing the Grand Pier on the left.  Take the first road on the right, with Cabot Court on the right.  Once you have passed the Weston College building and then take the second left into West street

Proceed straight ahead at the junction into the High Street and follow the road round to the left. The Playhouse is located on the right hand side.

From the M5 Junction 22
Follow the A38 and then the A370 into Weston-super-Mare

Follow the signs to Weston sea front and proceed north passing the Grand Pier on the left and the Cabot Court Hotel on the right.

Take the first road on the right passing Weston College building and then take the second left into West Street.

Proceed straight ahead at the junction into the High Street and follow the road round to the left. The Playhouse is located on the right hand side.
