In addition to shopping, Street has more facilities than many small towns.
Sports and Leisure
Swimmers are more than catered for with a choice of three swimming pools.
Strode Swimming Pool and fitness centre has two pools as well as gym and an extensive programme of exercise classes.
During school holidays
Millfield School opens its 50m pool to the general public for lane swimming, family swimming and family fun sessions on giant inflatables. Millfield also run a range of holiday courses for children aged 5 – 17, including multi-activity, sports and academic catch up.
During the summer months soak up the sun at
Greenbank Swimming Pool, an open air lido with two pools and a splash park surrounded by green space in the heart of the village.
Why not come and cheer on the Cobblers at
Street Football Club. Founded in 1880 Street FC is one of the oldest football clubs in Somerset.
The
Victoria Sport and Recreation Club provides sports facilities for the local community, including tennis, squash, cricket and bowls.
Or before you embark on a weekend of shopping, why not join the
Street Park Run, where more than 150 people regularly turn up at 9am on a Saturday to complete the free 5km timed run.
If all that sounds too much, look out for wildlife as you stroll along the River Brue that forms the border between Street and Glastonbury, or walk up the hill to the south of the village and take a look at the far-reaching views over the levels and the Mendips. Here you will stumble across a charming Swiss Chalet style property, which is the oldest YHA hostel that is still in operation today.
