The village resort of Brean in Somerset is preparing for its annual famous Country and Western Festival in September.
The ten day festival is long-established as a celebration of music and culture, with many enthusiasts staying throughout at one of the many local holiday centres, touring and camping sites that are adjacent to the popular seven mile stretch of sandy beach. Many of the festival events are also open to day visitors.
Over ten venues will be providing entertainment this year with the atmosphere completed by the variety of costumes and accessories worn by enthusiastic audiences who have a choice of over 70 live performances and acts.
The Beachcomber is a well-known venue and appearances this year include Streamline, Arnold & Williams Country Show, Ian Highland Band, Spread Your Wings and Ainsley. The Saturday night headliner is the very popular Jo-Anne Lifford Band. There are two top tribute shows – Steve Halliday as Elvis on Tuesday 1
st October and the sensational Sarah Jayne as Dolly Parton on Thursday 3

The Seagull Inn has a new team carrying forward their music legacy this year which has a wide and consistent offer with live music every day from 1pm. There are over 25 acts at this one venue alone, along with daily Line dance instruction and western stalls. See

Brean Leisure Park once again is a magnet for the Stetsons and boots with three venues, The Tavern, Bucket and Spade and Breakers. A number of themed events invite audiences to dress how they choose including Cowboys & Cowgirls and Hillbilly. Daytime entertainment at The Tavern starts from 1.45pm but as with many venues in the village, doors open early for breakfast. The Bucket & Spade is another venue that offers line dancing daily from 12pm with Helen Parkin. Breakers bar and restaurant features evening live entertainment and western dress is encouraged with nightly trilogies. Full details at
