The Bishop's Palace

The Bishop's  Palace

The Bishop’s Palace in Wells, Somerset,  has been home to the Bishops of Bath and Wells for over 800 years and this medieval marvel of a Palace is surrounded by 14 acres of historic gardens, with ancient ramparts, a moat and drawbridge and the stunning well pools that give
the City of Wells, in Somerset its name.
The interior of the Palace features highlights such as the medieval vaulted Undercroft, the elegant Long Gallery with portraits of the Bishops throughout the ages, and the exhibition space, featuring regular changing exhibitions.

The gardens were recognised in 2016 with RHS Partner Garden status and feature diverse planting styles and rare specimen trees throughout. There is a new natural play area for children and The Bishop’s Table café offers an array of locally sourced food and drink.
