With one of the longest sandy beaches in Europe, landmarks steeped in history and a rich tapestry of family activities, Burnham-on-Sea offers something for everyone. Blossoming during the Victorian era, Burnham continues to offer timeless seaside pleasures.
Things to do in Burnham-on-Sea. Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, is an amazing, sea side town, with some of the longest golden sandy beaches in Europe. Burnham On Sea has everything from water parks to horse riding, sand artists and watersports. With long-stretching sandy beaches and stunning coastal walks, Burnham has everything you want from a traditional British seaside holiday.
Burnham-on-Sea originated as a fishing village, and now is home to the southern tip of the second longest beach in Europe. The town’s annual carnival, bi-annual food and drink festival, gardens, restored art-deco cinema and busy calendar of events ensures there’s something for everyone to enjoy in this thriving seaside town.
The iconic Low Lighthouse is the last of three active lighthouses in Burnham-on-Sea and is a must-see for visitors and photographers. Whilst Burnham may have one of the longest expanses of sand, it has the shortest pier in Britain, perfect for those looking for quaint, old fashioned fun. To see Burnham from above, climb nearby Brean Down headland for incredible 360-degree panoramic views of the Somerset Levels whilst reimagining history at The Palmerston Fort.
If you’re an animal lover, nearby Animal Farm Adventure Park offers themed rides, farm animal favourites and more unusual creatures to visit and handle. Thrill-seekers will love nearby Brean Leisure Amusement Park, a family resort with over 40 rides and attractions. For a more relaxing affair, Apex Park boasts 42-acres of wide open spaces to enjoy a picnic and watch the local wildlife. The park’s gentle lakeside walking routes, children's play area, outdoor gym and skate park means you’ll need to set aside an afternoon to make the most of this tranquil spot.
