Ham Hill

Ham Hill country park offers wonderful views of the South Somerset Moors, Exmoor and the Mendip Hills. The 164-hectare country park centres on the huge hill fort that flourished here during the Iron Age. Evidence has been uncovered that this fort was one of the largest in the southwest and the centre of trade in the region for many years.

In later times the hill stone (known as Hamstone) was quarried extensively, particularly during the Victorian era. The Houses of Parliament in London are fronted with Hamstone.

The park offers a number of walks allowing many splendid views, with The Prince of Wales Hotel, which sits perched on the top of the hill, the perfect place for a lunch break.
